The blaze at the Edgewater Manor Apartments broke out around 12:30 a.m. bringing firefighters from multiple departments and companies to the scene Thursday, Dec. 28.

A roof collapse shortly after arrival made conditions even more challenging and dangerous, Hope Hose Co. 2 out of Beverly said.

Victims jumped from their second-floor balconies and firefighters rescued three people from their balcony, 6abc reports citing officials. One of the victims rescued was taken to Jefferson Hospital's burn center, the outlet said.

Nineteen people from eight units were displaced, CBS News says. The American Red Cross was assisting.
